Conference Vision
A View to What's in Store:
In the Moomba spirit of fun and getting together over the long weekend the 2012 Conference will unite around a thousand District 9800 Rotarians to enjoy food, fun, entertainment and fellowship, as well as exchange ideas, gain inspiration and share with the community what can be done to solve social issues.
Held in the heart of Rotary District 9800, the cosmopolitan and culturally rich City of Melbourne, your host, the Rotary Club of Carlton, will bring a touch of Carlton’s colourful and café- inspired culture to the magnificent venue, The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
With rousing entertainment, engaging speakers, inspiring stories of Rotary in action and innovations such as a Q&A session hosted by Tony Jones, as well as the Rotary Social Responsibility Fair, expect the 2012 Conference to be as vibrant and diverse as Melbourne itself!
Plenary session themes will include “Leadership and the Ethical Challenge”, “Celebrating Our New Generations in The Family of Rotary”, “Health & Wellbeing: Where We Can Make a Difference” and “Building Communities”, and we are assembling a list of speakers who will challenge your perceptions and shine a light on our community’s challenges.
Speakers, presenters and hosts confirmed to participate in the 2012 conference include ABC Lateline and Q&A Host, Tony Jones; and CEO of the Committee for Melbourne and Foundation Chair of the United Nations Global Compact Principles for Social Investment, Andrew MacLeod.
With the grand stage at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre befitting internationally renowned performers, the 2012 Conference will bring you an unsurpassed entertainment spectacular with some added surprises in store. The Saturday night Gala Dinner will be an affair to remember, with sumptuous food and the very best in local wines coupled with a night of true celebration of Rotary International’s great work.
This coming year will also include for the first time the Rotary Social Responsibility Fair, an exhibition open to corporates and the public that demonstrates the work being done by Community Groups and Not-For-Profits. These community groups alongside Rotary will have the opportunity to showcase their good works in communities at home and abroad whilst inviting the public and corporate sectors to engage with them.
The public will also be invited to join us in the innovative Q&A session with Tony Jones. This plenary session will provide the potential for a nationally televised audience while a panel of Australian leaders and experts discuss “Leadership and the Ethical Challenge”. This will be a ‘must see’ session involving some of Australia’s biggest names in discussing some of the most ethically demanding issues facing our communities.
If you want fun, world-class entertainment, inspiring speakers and the best weekend of the year...then you’ve got it!
